Cinquain poem

  L.I : To create an Cinquain Poem about fornite. 



For the Cinquain Poem, I and Aisea worked collabortivtely, to create an cinquain Poem, about fornites skins, We used nouns,adjectives,verbs(actions words) and One synonym, What I really liked doing was writing an 3 word Cinquain Poem, Powerful,Eyecontact an Peed. This DLO was really intersting to create but also we both knew what we need to do, and understand as we have done this challenge more than once.

Character 6 Emotions

 L.I : To create an DLO showing the 6 emotions that our character feel’s in our 6 story sentence.

The DLO showing above is an DLO that was created, by finding images of the way they felt in the story. The first of six emotions we used were Angry,sad,Happy,Scared,Tired and shocked. We both used our good searching skills to make sure we’re using the right images and images that we are allowed to use


List Poem

L.I : To create a List poem about the character we’re writing about. 



This task, we created a DLO about a poem about Roronoa zoro, and for this we wrote a list of poems about him. We also used word hippo to find words that we think are interesting and detailed to explain about the character.  As for that we both knew the structure of the List poem. We both knew which word is better and which one isn't.

6 Sentences Story

L.I : To create a six sentence story and then create an manga comic book about. 




This week we’re still learning about Anime, for my first task I decided to do I worked with a partner, we both decided to write are story about are good thief. We both also used our searching skills to find images that we can trace to help make the story more interesting and easier to understand. We both worked collaboratively and shared out ideas on what we should do,what we should change and what should fix to make it better and more detailed for our readers.

Desighn a charcter

LI: To create a character profile

Our challenge was to choose our favourite anime/manga character. Our next challenge was to draw the character on our chromebooks or on paper. I chose to draw my character on cromebook because it was easir for me. Our final challenge was to write a paragraph that describes our character and explains why this character is your favourite because he is super strong and he is stronger than Goku.

Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to create a DLO in our own words that tells us about the life of our favourite manga artist or a well known manga artist. A fact I found interesting is that 480 million copies of one piece manga have been sold.

This week LS2 is learning about Anime. Anime is a Japanese comic book that introduces people to the anime they are reading about. I also like to watch movies, which is another different way to watch and read about anime. I enjoy doing this activity because my partner and I learnt different facts about anime? Did you know that anime manga has been around for more than 100 years. We also really enjoyed defining words we didn't know about. For example we didn't know what censorship means, if you want to learn just have a look at our google doc and google draw to understand more information about manga anime.

Our challenge today was to find the definitions of a 2D shape then draw the shape. I chose to draw my own. I found this hard because I never learned about this stuff.

Custimize Sneakers

This week I read a article about a man who custimized people shoes and he custimizes his own shoes some of his desighns repersent his culture it was also a great hobbie. So I tried desighning a shoe template on my cromebook. It was little hard tracing the shoe and coming up with a desighn. My shoe repersented anime and the animes I like watching. I really enjoyed this activity because I had fun coming up with different desighn and I restarted 5 time because I didn't like the desighn.

Today David shared his reading challenge with us. It is all about the Greek gods and helps us to practise the skills we have been learning in our reading lessons with our teachers. 

David created this task as part of his CARE award challenges. We earn CARE award badges in year 7 and 8 to show that we understand our school values. In this activity we used our smart searching skills to find information to help us complete the table.

I found this activity intresting because it was fun learning about the greek gods.

The Greek god I found most interesting was hades because he was the god of the under world he was the god who decided if people go to hell or heaven.

Anger

L.I To use metaphors and the five senses to describe the abstract noun.




Our task was to create a DLO of writing a poem using a abstract noun. Abstract nouns are things that we can feel but we can't physically touch it. The 5 senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell and feel. First we had to pick a word from the list. And me and my group choose luxury. After we picked the word, we looked for a structure in a example of given to us. After writing the poem we had to make a poem of us describing the word we have picken. We really enjoyed this activity, because it taught us how to create metaphors and poems, using abstract nouns.

Tech

 This week for Tech we learnt how to dissect a hibiscus. First we wrote why flower are spealil and what you noticed aout a flower. The equement we used were. slide- glass, cutting board, and a knife. 

First we Remove one petal. Next we Pinch the side of the Ovule. last we cut a straight line on the Pollen tube. Then we pick one polen and used it on the microw scope. I learnt parts about the flower. The parts are, Hibiscus, Stigma, Style,Anther, Pollen Tube,Sepal,Thalamus,Male Gametophyte,Petal,Ovule, Female Gametophyte.

Main Ideas

 LI: to identify the main ideas in the text


Our next activity was to continue our learning with Matariki and Maori Stories. 

For this activity we talked about the general important ideas, the 4 very important ideas, and the 3 vital ideas of the story. The important ideas are composed of 4 specific things that might basically summarise the story. The 3 vital ideas are composed of key parts of the story.



Venn Diagram

 LI: to find as many similarities and differences as you can between the video and the text of “The Beginning”. 

To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a Venn Diagram. For our Venn Diagram we compared the differences and similarities between the Video and Written Version of the Maori Creation Story. A Venn Diagram, is a diagram showcasing the differences and similarities between two different things.

Summarising

 LI: to explain in fewer words what the text is about


For our Inquiry we were learning about Matariki, and the origin story. Our task was to watch a video on the Maori Creation story and we had to summarise the video. The video was an artist representing and creating the story through sand art. Our 20 important words had to be the top important words from the video, words that represented the story. Then from the 20 we had to pick the 6 most important words Then using those 6 words we had to sum up the story in a few sentences.

Creative writing

LI: To understand how to use descriptive words to make your writing more interesting.


Our focus for writing this week was to use descriptive writing, which means using words that are powerful, making your text more exciting to read and add more detail into your writing. We were tasked to work collaboratively in pairs to complete this task. Our task was to describe one of the two pictures that we were given. To make this task easier we would use our prior knowledge of sentence structures, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and descriptive words to create a piece of writing that uses descriptive words to make the text exciting to read.

Following Classroom Rules & Expectations | PB4L

LI: To follow the rules and expectations, expected from teachers. 

This weeks PB4L learning is about following classroom rules and expectations. PB4L is a acronym describing Positive Behavior for Learning. PB4L helps us understand the correct behavior for inside classroom learning and outer learning. This consist of Classroom discussions, walking to assembly, behaviour on school trips, wet day procedure eg. respecting wet day monitors. All of these prospects will help us develop a strong and healthy learning enviroment.  I found this activity fun because we could teach people about respect and rules.

LI: To try using labortory equipment

Today I went tech at tamaki college. Mrs Shama showed us what equipments were for and then we used them in a experement. We had to time how long it takes for the sugar to evolve in water.
The temputure of the cold water was 24c, The temuture for the hot water was 82c, it took 1min and 4 sec for the sugar to elvolve in the cold water, and  it took 28 sec for the sugar to elvolve in the hot water

Science (Tech)

Today I went to tech at Tamaki College.
We learned about equipment that Scientest use and what they use it for when they are doing an experiment.
Then she gave us a Beaker, a Measuring Cylinder, and a Dropper to measure water about 40ml.
Once we measured 40ml we used the dropper to measure up to 43ml.

Cinquain Poem

LI: To write a cinquain poem to describe a sports star

We have been learning to write cinquain poems to help us strengthen our connections to description. A cinquain poem has 5 lines. Each line has a different purpose. Line 1 is a noun which is a name. Line 2 has 2 adjectives taht describe the noun. Line 3 has 3 verbs that end in ‘ing’ and describe the actions. Line 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words (not a sentence) that go together to describe the noun. Line 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun.

L.I: Make a DLO that tells you how to Stand Up to Bullies.


Heavenly, Hosea and I have completed an activity for the confidence badge i'm working towards. The activity we chose was based off how we should stand up to bullies. Many people bully for attention and a sense of superioty towards others. In class we are told to use our W I T S whenever someone's bullying me or others. One of our examples to learn how to stand up to bullies is walk away or tell the teacher. This task was fun because it give people younger and older ideas for what to do when they are being bullied.

ASB Getwise

In the morning we learned about money and how we should save money , and spend it wisely. 
Marlon gave us $1800 we had to spend it for a trip to Fiji. We had to buy a passport for $200. 
Then we had to buy a ticket there were two options $500 or $800 the difference is that the 
$500 flight you get no food and not that much space my group pick $500 because were still getting there. 
Next we had to buy a hotel to stay there we had to choose $600 with food and a open view to the water. 
The other option was a $200 with a view to a brick wall and a bed with pee stains we picked $200. 
After that we had to decide if we wanted insurance or not and it was $300 my group said no. 
Next we had to buy activities there were 3 options $100 was surfing, $200 scuba diving, 
$300 skydiving my team brought all of them. Then we brought food it was $100. 
after we finished my group had $100 left. It was really fun because we had to make the best decision.

Toys

We have been learning about technological practice.  This week we have been learning about the 6 processes of Technological Design and how each one is important in the process of designing a product.
We are using the processes of technological practices to  design and build a rubber band- powered rover that can 
scramble across the floor. I found this interesting and fun because we were able to find the materials needed to 
make the rovers, and we were able to do it with our friends.

A moment in time poem

 LI: To use the language features and structure of published poem to help use write our own poem.

We looked at the language features and structure of a poem called ‘A Moment in Time’ and used our experiences from camp to follow the structure and collaboratively create our own moment in time poem. To describe what we heard, what we saw, how we felt and what we wondered we used our senses, adjectives and adverbs. Ajectives are words that describes nouns. Adverbs are a word that describes an action. I found this task interesting and fun because I used a really cool website called word hippow to make my groups work better.

Isaac Newton is a physicist, mathematician, theologian and a Astronomer. We were also required to create a DLO with the following questions: Why is his work important? What did he find out? How does his work connect to simple machines? 

I found this activity fun because I learned new things like who discovered gravity.

Duffy Assembly

LI: To understand how reading can change one's life.

Today we had Marc from Duffy come and talk to us about the importance of reading and how reading can make a big impact on your life.  Although Marc had some challenges in his life he used reading as a tool to get through the hard times.  Marc believes that we are surrounded by CAN and not CAN’T. I found Assembly motivating because he was talking about things you can do an there is never can't.

   

Key Competencies

 LI: To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them. 

I really liked doing this task because I got to rethink back to camp , I also liked talking about the differences before camp and after camp.

Kokako Lodge Brochure

LI: To a collaborative brochure that tells others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp


   



In our activity groups for camp, we created an inside and outside brochure to advertise Kokako Lodge. We included distance between Auckland to Kokako Lodge, information about the activities, photos of student experience, catering and cabins. They provide free beds and have various activities to do and challenge yourself with. There are 6 cabins that hold up to 14 people, which is almost definitely capable of holding multiple crowds of people. We focused on providing information that sells Kokako Lodge, which means it catches people’s interest and makes them want to stay there. We enjoyed creating this brochure and being able to test our creativity with advertising and comprehension skills.


5 minutes of Camp

LI: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp


As our instructor was giving us a helmet and a harness I was thinking why do we need the helmet. I had an idea of someone falling and then that's when I was worried for my life. As I was climbing the ladder I felt scared but when I got to the top my stupid eyes looked down, I panicked because someone told me to walk across the log. I tried my best to balance myself but my whole body was shaking like I was in the coldest country. I took one step as I could hear people cheering me on telling me I could do this. I kept taking the slowest step as my legs were shaking. I almost made it but I was so scared I turned around and asked if I could come down. As I touched the ground my body stopped shaking I was ashamed that I didn’t make it to the end.

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt. I found this activity fun and interesting because I was given the opportunity to share my thoughts and express my feelings about how I felt during the high beam activity.

Creating this DLO also helps us learn how to make the right choices. This was a cool and fun task to do as we both knew what to write and used our knowledge. Working with my partner was really fun as we talked about it together. I also liked creating images by drawing them using the drawing tools.

For this task , I decided to work with my friends. This task was about creating an DLO about Cybersmart. We first started off by introducing what Cybersmart is? We then introduced how to work google meets and what you should do in a google meet. After we created an another slide showing tips and shortcuts on knowing how to use our laptop correctly. I really enjoyed working with my group and helping other understand the safety reasons on being cybersmart.  I also liked writing what I knew about cybersmart , Did you know that cybersmart is also all about being safe online and choosing the right choices online.

Tattooing has played an important part in many cultures over time. Our challenge was to use our smart searching skills to find out about traditional tattooing in our own culture. I really enjoyed doing this task as I get to learn a lot more about my Culture. I also really liked working with my partner as we shared our ideas and worked collaborative. The most interesting fact I learnt was some people do tatting to represent their culture. My partner and I used our searching skills to find facts and information about tattooing and what it means to our culture.
