Celebrating the Summer Learning Journey

L.I to celebrate our PBS SLJ participants.  

I really enjoyed the activities set.

It was Fun getting challenges from Nano Girl.

I really liked that we were keeping our learning going over the holidays.

Mrs Grant and Miss Paleti were handing out the SLJ awards.

Congratulations to Sakshi  who got top blogger, top commenter, top blogger for manaiakalame.

    

Poi rakau

Today I did an activity called poi rakau. 

I made a slide with the instructions in my version.

Poi rakau was a training games for warriors.

I really liked this activity because I really like to play poi rakau.

That was Summer

 Today I did an activity called that was summer.

I had to make a summer poem about things I normally do in the summer.

Like going to the beach and having a BBQ. 

I really enjoyed making this poem.

Fishy False Teeth

 Today I did an activity called fishy false teeth.

I had to read an article that was about a fish with human teeth.

Then I wrote reasons why the fish is fake all real.

I really enjoyed this activity.

 

Build a Super Column

Today I did an activity called build a super column.

I had to make a column and stack things on.

First I looked for materials I needed to build my column.

Then I made my column and stacked bean on my column. 

I really liked this activity because I like making things.

Whānau Tint Time

Today I did an activity called whanau tent time.

I first looked around my house for things to make my fort.

Then me and my dad made our tent.

I really liked this activity because me and my sisters always make forts.

Catapult

 Today I did an activity called build a super seesaw.

First I collected the materials like rubber band, wooden spoon, and toilet paper roll. 

Then I made my Catapult.

I really had fun making a Catapult.  

Mondrian Art

 Today I did an activity called Mondrian.

Mondrian art was made by a dutch painter called Piet Mondrian.

I had to use Rectangles and square shapes to make my art.

I really enjoyed this activity.

Pixel Art

Today I did an activity call pixel Art.

For pixel art I use squared shapes to make my art.

I made these art because all I do on summer is watch anime.

I really enjoyed doing this activity.

Balancing

 Today I did an activity called It's a balancing act.

I had to make a tower out of rocks, stones, or pebbles.

First I looked for flat rock and started building my tower.

I really enjoyed this activity because it was really challenging.

Summer Symmetry

 Today I did an activity called Summer symmetry. First I found objects and took photos of them. Then I drew a line in the middle of the objects. I really enjoyed doing this activity.

Gravity

Today I experience two different activities.

One of them was filling a cup of water, putting a piece of cardboard on the top and then flipping it upside down.

The other activity was filling a container with water and then put two holes on each side of the container, then get a long strip of string to tie through the holes, in the video it would probably make more sense.

As I was doing these experiments, me and my sister helped each other take photo's and recording each others video's.

I really enjoyed this activity.

Collage

 Today's activity I had to make a collage.

A collage is a art when you stick multiple pictures of something you like on paper.

The first thing I did was look for images of what I like doing.

I really enjoyed this activity. 

Flout your boat

 Today's activity I made a boat out of paper.

First I watched a video called how to make a boat.

Then I took a photo of my boat floating in the sink.

I really enjoyed this activity. I mostly enjoyed making the boat.

 

My special Summer place

Today I did a activity call My special Summer place.

I had to pick a image of a special summer place and I picked the Sky Tower.

I picked the sky Tower because the first time I went there I saw lots of thing like a casino.

Then I had to write descriptive's about the sky Tower.

I really like this activity it was fun and enjoyable.

 

Building a Dam

Today I made a dam. A dam is something that beavers usually make for protection from predators. 

For this activity I have made my own dam. My older sister helped me build it.

As I was making this, my uncle and dad gave me ideas of how to create and design the dam.

For the dam I used grass, rocks, water and branches from a tree. 

First I dug a big hole in the ground with a shovel and that was the base. 

Second I covered the hole with rocks so that when I tip the water inside the hole doesn't devolve into the mud.

Thirdly I made the dam which was the part in the middle, I just stuffed the branches and grass together and then put it all in the middle.

Lastly I tipped water from a bucket onto both sides of the dam until it was full and that was how I made the dam.

I really enjoyed this activity because I got help and because I kept thinking of good ideas as I was making the dam.

Summer Tastes

 For this activity I had to pick some Summer food and describe why I like it.

I picked six different food. They were Strawberry, Watermelon, Can drinks, Peanut butter and jam sandwich's, Ice cream, and  barbecue.  

I really liked this activity because it made me hungry.

kiwi Jingle bells

Today I did an activity called Kiwi jingle bells. I first listened to a kiwi Christmas story so I know what to do. Then I wrote my own kiwi Christmas song it had to have places in NZ.

I really enjoyed this activity it was fun making the song. 

Santa costume

 Today's task for Summer Learning Journey I made a new design for Santa's costume.

We first drew our costume then picked different colours for the costume.

I really enjoyed this activity.

Haiku Poem

For another summer learning journey task we needed to copy the template to create an Haiku. We created this by using the 5 syllables 7 syllables and the 5 syllables again. We also drew the Christmas tree and the presents. I really enjoyed this task as well as it was really cool and fun to do.
